A musical journey woven around the iconic music of The Beatles.

This musical will proudly feature a full cast of adults with diverse abilities. The story,

follows the lives of characters who find themselves intertwined amidst the turbulent social issues of the 1960’s. The plot navigates through love, war and the civil rights movement through the transformative power of music seen through the eyes of young lovers Jude and Lucy .

Their love story unfolds against the backdrop of the Vietnam war and

the cultural revolution, all underscored by the iconic Beatles songs that defined a generation.

From the rebellious streets of Greenwich Village, and the riot-torn streets of Detroit to the

killing fields of Vietnam, our characters each embark on a journey of self-discovery.

The Rising Starz theater group is a branch of ProjectFREE, located in Gulfport, FL.

ProjectFREE is a 501c3 nonprofit Performing Art Training Program for adults with diverse abilities.

.ProjectFREE is fueled by parents, educators, and families built to enhance the quality of life for adults with intellectual and developmental abilities. The organization provides programs

that stimulate creativity, confidence and skills to connect with and positively impact their greater community.

The performances of ‘Across the Universe’ will take place on July 12th, 13th and 14th at

the St John Bosco Center for the Arts at Petersburg Catholic Highschool. The musical is directed and produced by

Audrey Short, a local musician and the esteemed music and art director at ProjecFREE. Join us for a

trip down memory lane, filled with love, hope and the metamorphic influence of music.
